Jacquelyn and Rodney

Jacquelyn and Rodney are a young couple who just bought their first home together in southwest Houston off of Hillcroft near Braes Bayou.  They are both incredibly hard workers who were thrilled to have a new home.  Jacquelyn is in her second year of law school at South Texas College of Law and Rodney is a postal worker with the United States Post Office.

JACQUELYN BEFORE THE STORM

RODNEY BEFORE THE STORM

When meteorologists started predicting that Hurricane Harvey would come through Houston, Jacquelyn and Rodney started to prepare. They sandbagged their home and put all of their valuables up high off the ground, knowing that the nearby bayou has been known to over-spill its banks.  Their home is not far from the Meyerland area, which has been hard hit over the past two years by both the Memorial Day Flood and the Tax Day flood, although from what I am aware of, their particular neighborhood was not hit by those disasters.  Despite their best efforts at protecting their home, they have lost everything including their cars.

SANDBAGGING

Jacquelyn was one of the first people to reach out to me when I posted on Nextdoor asking if any of my neighbors needed assistance.  As a college student, it is going to be very difficult for her to rebuild. She is such a sweet young woman and is very humble.  She really would appreciate any help anyone is willing to offer, whether that be cleaning supplies to get rid of the mess, or gift cards to help buy their essential items and to replace things that were lost.

I believe that cleaning supplies, or donations of gift cards would be the biggest help to Jacquelyn and Rodney.  Target, Wal-Mart, HEB, Home Depot - anything that anyone is wiling to donate would be much appreciated.

Please contact me at the below email address if you would like to send donations.  A mailing address will be provided upon request.
