Helping Hands to Harvey Victims

I am starting this website at the request of many of my friends and family who have graciously reached out to me in the past week.  As most everyone in the nation and world knows, Houston, Texas was hit by a catastrophic storm the last week of August, 2017.  What started out as a tropical storm strengthened into a Category 4 Hurricane.  Rockport, Texas and the surrounding area was completely devastated before the storm weakened to a tropical storm and hit Houston.  Because of the extremely warm waters in the Gulf of Mexico and a massive amount of atmospheric pressure, this made for the "perfect storm".  Houston was hit with a deluge of rain for four days, and over 51 inches of rain fell on the Bayou City.  To put that into perspective - the average yearly rainfall for Houston is 50 inches.  This amount fell over the course of just 4 days, causing catastrophic flooding, devastating thousands of home, and killing at least 40 people.

What is absolutely amazing to see is the spirit of Houston and how our city has pulled together.  There are many pictures and videos of neighbor helping neighbor, and this is what will help bring our city back together.  It is in this spirit that I decided that I needed to help in some way.  I put out a request to our neighbors through the Nextdoor app to see if there were any families I could collect donations for.  The response was overwhelming, to say the least. I have put together stories of each of the families and have included photographs and video when possible.  At the top of the site, you will see the names of the families - just click on their names and you can read their stories and view photographs and video.

I have received many requests from friends and family from around the country who want to help someone directly, instead of sending money to one of the many charitable organizations that are commonly advertised.  If you would like to know exactly where your donations are going, I think this is the perfect way to do so.  100 percent of all donations sent will go directly to the families featured on this site.

Gift cards to places such as Wal-Mart, Target, HEB, Kroger, Home Depot, etc. are going to be the most helpful to these families.  Of course, any other donation is always welcome whether that be cleaning supplies, linens, household items, etc.

Thank you all so much for visiting this site and please feel free to share with all of your friends and family.  I will be adding families in need as I get more information from them.  I am trying to supply you - the donors - with as much information as possible about these families while trying to protect their privacy as much as they request.

Please contact me at the following email address and I can provide you with mailing address to send donations.
